This style originated in that crucial period for martial arts at the end of the Ming and the beginning of the Qing dynasties (around 1644).\u00a0The roots of this method date back to one Li Bao<\/strong> of Henan.
\nLi had three disciples:
\nLi Jun<\/strong> from Faifeng, Henan;
\nDe Kai <\/strong>from Liaocheng, Shandong;
\nWang Ying<\/strong> (Tang Shan style) from JiZhou, Hebei.<\/p>\n

Wang Ying’s students:<\/strong>
\nSong YouWu<\/strong> and Song YouRui<\/strong> from CiYuTuo of Luan county

\nHe also taught Wang Mei <\/strong>from DaZhuanTou, Dong Kuang.<\/p>\n

Some people think this syle was originally called Ba Fang Quan<\/strong>, 8 Directions Boxing.<\/span><\/p>\n

During his journeys Li Bao<\/strong> came across birds, beasts reptiles and insects so he divided these into eight forms.

\nPhoenix Stretching Its Wings
\nEagle Shaking Its Wings
\nSparrow Hawk Turning
\nMoving Crane
\nBending Deer
\nSnake Slithering in the Grass
\nButterfly Hanging in the Air<\/p>\n

The actions of the butterfly influenced the hand gestures creating 8 actions like the butterfly landing, flying, etc.<\/span> Here are

\nButterfly Dipping
\nButterfly Dancing in 8 Directions
\nButterfly Passing Through the Branches

He also observed wave actions and other forms of water movement<\/strong>, eventually\u00a0 incorporating them into the flowing and counter pressure of fist movements with the power of the tides. This lead to the following analogies:<\/span><\/p>\n

Liu Jin He 5th generation holder. At nine Liu started with Wang Yun Chan, the 4th generation holder of Tang Shan Eight Immortal Fist style. Later he studied with Cu FengShan of Shandong.
