Since the circle is such a crucial aspect of most Baguazhang styles, we don’t feel too bad coming around every once in a while to reexamine a book, video or, in this case, a CD, relating to Bagua. We also don’t mind admitting our mistakes and, in this case, we are slightly red-in-the-face for an earlier omission.
Back in the day, Dan Miller published 38 issues, over 1000 pages, of the Pakua Journal. It came at a time when Baguazhang was not as well known as it is today (although, arguably, it is still not as recognizable as Taijiquan or Kung Fu. Certainly, if you tell someone at a party that you study or teach Bagua, you are more than likely to get a blank stare.)
Anyway, the articles and interviews are priceless to any Bagua pracitioner. Many of the instructors interviewed, for instance, are no longer around, and to be able to read their words is, alone, priceless.
Now we come to our sin of omission. Because, for reasons surpassing logic, we somehow never managed to actually print the awe-inducing Table of Contents on our site. Yikes. But here it is, now, for all to admire and drool over. And if you are one of the few who do not own a copy of this ridiculously affordable CD, containing every issue, use this code, PKJ10, for a 10% discount (good through May, 31, 2025).
Oh, and if you would like to read a few excerpts, try these:
