Plum’s first mission statement included the words, “…to preserve and promote Traditional Chinese Martial Arts.” That was almost 20 years ago, and every decision we make is still informed by that idea, whether we are deciding on a new addition to our catalogue, writing a book, creating video tutorials, or preparing an article for kaimen.
Part of our program is to make available, even if we have to reprint them ourselves, important works on this precious Art. One of the most requested, out of print titles is Sun LuTang’s Xing Yi Boxing Studies (Xing Yi Quan Xue), and we are very pleased to announce that we are now in the printing process, and expect it will be in our hands in a couple of weeks. We know that some of you have been waiting a long time for this classic text, translated by Albert Liu and edited and compiled by Dan Miller. Now the wait is only two more weeks, and to help it along, pre-orders will get a 10% discount.
This is really fantastic news! Thank you Plum Publications for making this happen!
I am a long time sun family hsing yi student and teacher and this is the only book on hsing yi I leave on a shelf close at hand, the other 65 or so books on hsing yi are “packed away”. In my opinion there is no better book on this art, and maybe the best book ever on chinese arts in general-you do not need to be a hsing yi practitioner to benefit from this text. Thank you Ted and Debbie for this-I sometimes think people forget that these treasures we have left to us could VERY quickly go away and never return to us. We have already lost so much in the chinese arts due to ego, fear, secrecy and all kinds of other human weakness. This book contains knowledge on these arts-not information, I think people have forgotten the difference. I think everyone should obtain a copy-RIGHT NOW-and further not just plum pub or knowledge, but human development, because these things are timeless.”yesterday’s magic is tomorrow’s science”
