Wong Fei Hung's Southern Boxing This branch of Southern Fists glaims linneage to the famous Chinese folk hero Wong Fai Hung (1847-1924). Son of Wong Kai-Ying, one of Canton's "Ten Tigers", who himself had studied from Shaolin master and monk Luk Ah-Choy. Wong's own Southern Shaolin is captured in his Hung Fist, a varied style with deep horse stances and mixed arm motions some of which could be considered Sourthern Long Fist. A prominent feature is the verbalization of different sounds as an active ingredient of Hei Kung training. Demonstrated by Chen Nian En, fourth generation disciple of Wong Fei Hung and the Chief Wushu Coach of Brunei. Click on pictures to see larger versions. See these in our DVD format. |

A strong, clear flavor of Hung Gar (Hong Jia). This relatively short Southern Fist form is an amalgam of Gung Ji Fuk Fu and Fu Hak with noticeable Tiger Claw, Bridge Hand, Four Level Horse and Unicorn Step moves. Sort of a Southern fist highlights boxing. |

This second road is constructed mostly of the middle movements associated with the Tiger Crane Fist. Significant movements include the side stepping, the Drunken Monk moves, the spinning fists and other major Southern Boxing motions. Good, strong form with very clear lines. |

A fast, and dynamic Southern Boxing set. Much like the Arrow Fist of the Hung style. Very fast hands, hooking wrists and snake spear hands. Many body turns and redirected strikes. Good, strong form with clear actions and quick changes. A solid Southern set. |

Many small but interesting Chi Kung motions. Animal actions are intemixed with movement which might resemble Tai Chi to many people. Some nice exercises especially for martial artists. Most of these Chi Kung exercises are definitely martial in color and flavor. This is Chen Nian En's own combination of Sun and Wu Tai Chi, along with Six Harmonies Boxing and other classic internal exercises. |

This is a very clear presentation of the Siu Nim Dao first Wing Chun form. As a part of the Wong Fei Hung Southern Fist the movements are surprisingly true to the Yip Man standard form. No applications but pretty good camera work and extensive close ups mostly from a frontal angle. |

Actually Lung Xing Mo Qiao Quan. That is to say "Dragon Shaped" Bridge Rubbing Boxing. Anyone familiar with Southern Fists is aware that there are few styles which do not emphasize some "bridge crossing" hand techniques. This set is quick and powerful with actions that resemble, say, White Eyebrow or Wu Mei Quan. Much trapping and snapping and a lot of centerline striking. Also a distinctive Dragon arch to the back. |

Actually LungXing WuMa GuiCao Quan or "Dragon Shaped Five Horses Return to the Trough Boxing." A long set. By now the horse stance associated with Hung is completely gone. Actions are fast, drag steps accompany almost all movements. There is special emphasis on unusual angles for fists strikes such as overlay back knuckles. Again, very similar at first blush to White Eyebrow style work. |

Fut Jia LuoHan Quan. Buddha Family Disciple Boxing. Being a Southern style there's more chance people recognize the Cantonese idiom of "Fut Gar LoHan" Boxing. Within the Wong Fei Hung branch this is the most distinctively Long Arm of all the sets. It almost resembles PiGua with special weight put on Big Opening and Big Closing. A nice looking set and a workout. Very different from some of the more Arrow Punch sets of the system. |

A very classic looking butterfly knife set. One of it's most prominent features is a little greater than usual emphasis on "hidden" or "sleeve" holding of the knives - that is to say, reverse gripped. Not a short set. Many sweeping actions, unicorn steps and Long Arm attacks. |
