First,
be advised that all of these VCD's are IN
CHINESE ONLY. In our opinion that doesn't matter much because
the instruction is clear and the quality of photography very good.
But we will not accept returns just because people didn't read... IN CHINESE ONLY. Given that, these
are really tremendous deals for the money. Each of these special
VCD's can be played on a computer for full enjoyment. Made for PC's
they are also Mac compatible by downloading Quicktime (for free)
and any similar VCD player program. Also playable on most DVD players.
For less than $10.00? Wow! |
XIAO
Style Nei-Jia Boxing
Xiao
style claims to have many antecedents and resources. On the Tai
Chi side it combines Hao (Wu) and Yang styles and Mr. Xiao is actually
a fifth generation representative of the Yang branch. Other influences
include TongBei, Xing Yi, and both Cheng and Yin styles of BaGua.
Xiao style as exhibited here revolves around a core of Tai Chi actions
which are supplemented with health and power issuing exercises.
Some of this additional training structure should be adopted by
more Tai Chi instructors. An interesting hybrid.

Xiao style Post Heaven
Methods
About
1 Hour, VCD pricing, Chinese Only
Hou
Tian Fa. This is a short, very direct form about Power Issuance
using the very essential movements such as punch and elbow stike.
The main thrust of this branch of the Xiao style is its connection
with Tai Chi. Seen from that angle it does give an extraordinarily
in depth dissection of the elements of Tai Chi. This short form
and very slight applications all center around the breakdowns and
power exercises of each formal section. Much emphasis on elbows
and other short hand methods. |

Xiao style Push Hands
About
1 Hour, VCD pricing, Chinese Only
A
good discussion and demonstration on the practice of what could
best be described as Yang Tai Chi Push Hands. Separate movements
ae demonstrated first encompassing the primary eight actions. Then
they are incorporated into normal Four Hand Push Hands with some
simple but nice symmetrical training routines. |

Xiao style Large Frame
Tai Chi
Triple VCD,
VCD pricing,Chinese Only
The
large frame version of Xiao Tai Chi. Neither Yang nor Hao but something
with a definite flavor for this particular style. Many moves are
recognizable and all the salient points of Tai Chi are respected.
An interesting disk to the following: those interested in Xiao style
of course; those searching down "hidden strands" of the
Tai Chi story; and those who are doing research.

Xiao style Long Fist
About
1 Hour, VCD pricing, Chinese Only
Imagine,
if you will, the movements of the Yang style rearranged in an entirely
different order but performed at roughly the same speed. Then through
in, at the speed we mentioned, some movements of Tong Bei and the
circle walking of BaGua and you will have a pretty good idea about
this form of "Long Fist." On the
other hand we should remember that the term Long Fist has been variously
applied to Tai Chi, Tai Tzu and, of course, a large family of Kung
Fu. |

Xiao style 30 San Shou
About
1 Hour, VCD pricing, Chinese Only
A
number of small fighting routines of two to six moves each. These
are strings of fa chin and practical motions. They entire approach
somewhat resembles XingYi's animal lines though these San Shou are
not constructed exactly the same. There are demonstrations of some
of the move applied to self defense. A few really nice ideas to
understand how Tai Chi might be applied. |

Xiao style Small Frame
Tai Chi
Double VCDs , VCD pricing, Chinese Only
This
is indeed a small frame set. Based onboth Hao and Yang styles, it
also contains some elements often kept to higher levels of each
style. On the Repulse Monkey, for example, it shares elements of
energy work with the Yang Fast set. The basic structure of the set
is that of the better known styles with a blending of numerous Tai
Chi sources and styles. Breakdowns are given and the set is roughly
the equivalent of the Long Set of either style.

Xiao style Nine Small
Heavens
About
1 Hour, VCD pricing, Chinese Only
Actually
Nine Small Heavens is a reasonably famous form though rarely seen.
It derives from a style of the same name with a special emphasis
on elbow work. This is an unusual form with a combination of fluid
movements such as circle walking combined with focused short motions.
Few kicks, mostly arm work with some difficult flexibility actions
such as sitting cross legged positions with torso twists. The
majority of the moves are pretty conservative. |
VCD#658
Xiao style Old Frame Tai
Chi
Triple VCD,
VCD pricing,Chinese Only
The
"old" frame version of Xiao Tai Chi. The emphasis here is
on "natural movement". The form is very similar to the others
of the style with movements that are more conservative but not entirely
"small frame". Soft and fluid the actions link together
more easily than others of the style. Some applications shown.

Xiao style 13 Zong Shih
About
1 Hour, VCD pricing, Chinese Only
One
way to define the difference between normal strength training and
that of Kung Fu is that rather than employing isolation exercises
that strengthen Kung Fu works to concentrate the power on a single
spot. Zong Shih is total power that flows together - a concept used
in all styles. This is a series of Fa Chin or power issuance exercises
with just that type of integration in mind. |
VCD#660
Xiao style Wu Dang Health Exercises
About
1 Hour, VCD pricing, Chinese Only
Stay
young and fit by stretching, lifting and waving. These are martially
inspired exercises of a wide range. Many could be performed by anyone.
Some are not so simple. Mostly they resolved to single actions with
the entire body engaged in the perfomance. Very little Fa Chin, mostly
slow, controlled movement. |
VCD#661
Xiao style Tai Chi Sword
About
1 Hour, VCD pricing, Chinese Only
This
set is definitely based on tthe well known Yang Style 13 Method Tai
Chi sword. There are many elaborations here and additional moves.
But the structure of the set is still there. Some nice interpretations
and many moves have been expanded to have more meaning than in the
standard, simpler version. |
