MIZU (Rice Ancestor)Boxing

The demonstrator here is Zhang Yi Ming, a well known practitioner of MiZu Chuan and member of the BeiJing Martial Arts Association. Much like Cha Chuan or Shaolin, MiZu is a Long Range boxing with fast, clear movements and much style. Mi Zu is a traditional style said to be created by Zhao Bi about 200 years ago and thereafter spread to Wen Xian County. It is a branch of SHAOLIN with certain characteristic traits such as mixing fast and slow movements.

In our Kenpo days one of our favorite moves was named "Thundering Hammers". Well, here they are, a rare double hammer set. In truth the hammers here are about as light as a contemporary WuShu feather but the set is still valid as a double weapons form. Actually the demonstration starts with the whole set, then goes to breakdown then returns to the demo. Everything is quite clear and certainly learnable with any exposure to double weapons or just requisite coordination.
