Yang
Tai Chi 13 Methods
Shihfu Jiang Jian-Ye & Yu Lu-Zhi
US
49.99, Color 120 min. VHS
Yang
Jian Hou was the son of Yang Lu Chan (Yang Tai Chi's founder)
and the father of the most famous of the Yang's: Yang Chen Fu
(who developed the most popular by far Tai Chi set in the world).
This form is said to be the form of Jian Hou. It consists of an
entirely different structure from the typical Yang form in that
it resembles Tan Tui as a series of "roads" up and back
lines each with a specific move repeated on EACH SIDE and number
of times. There is an articulation between each section based
on Single Whip. As one may already know, the 13 animals correspond
with the 8 methods plus the five direction. They include mostly
animals already known in the longer Yang set such as Crane but
also Toad and "magpie" (swallow?). A good source for
"line work" for teachers and those interested in the
development of Tai Chi. A more symmetrical form, less "blended"
than the better known Yang version.

Wisdom
Fist (Zhi Chui)
Shihfu Jiang Jian-Ye & Yu Lu-Zhi
US
44.99, Color 120 min. VHS
This
is supposed to represent one of the original forms of the Yang
LuChan system of Tai Chi. This is a short to middling set of 29
postures. Jiang demonstrates each action from multiple angles
and also gives basic combinations and applications for each section.
Overall an interesting "short" Tai Chi form.

by Shihfu Jiang Jian-Ye

This
form blends two great "internal styles" BaGua and T'ai
Chi. This form, taught by Grandmaster Zhao Zhen-Sheng of Jinan,
utilizes flowing moves and harmonious actions to conduct Ch'i
through the body while practicing a nicely constructed contemporary
hybrid of styles.
