Hong style T'ai Chi

Here is the style handed down from Chen Fa Ke's famous student, Hong Jun Sheng. In essence this is not only Chen style but a fine example of a life-long dedication to its perfection. Many people consider Hong Jun Sheng one of the greats. The movements of this style are subtle, sinuous and very beautiful; as we've said elsewhere, sort of Chen style done with a Wu style elegance.

Tell me more about Hong Jun Sheng and his Taijiquan.

NEW!! Final DVD of the series. #25218 Tai Chi Combative Applications
For some reason this DVD was unavailable for months and we could not complete our representation of the entire series on the Hong branch of Chen Tai Chi. Here is a DVD chock full of applications. One of the great things he does on this DVD is short bursts of fa jin practice that almost looks like boxing and Tai Chi combined. This is followed by a great number of throws and takedowns, similar in execution to Tim Cartmell's Effortless Combat Throws material. Even in application Hong style retains its relaxation and calmness.

DVD #25216 Taijiquan Joint Locking
A DVD on the Chin Na hidden in the Taijiquan form. Much of the information is relatively simple, but the important part is teacher Li ZhuJun’s comments to his students, almost as if he were informally instructing them. He corrects a movement here and angle there, and the whole thing comes off like eavesdropping on a private lesson. Also, many of the movements, even if you are familiar with them, have those nice details and insights so important to really making Chin Na function. Perhaps this is the origin or, at least, a component of Li En Jiu’s strong skills in grappling.
